Virginia’s Sustainable Wines

WINE #1

2022 Lightwell Survey Goodbye Horses
skin contact Riesling, Petit Manseng
Shenandoah Valley, Virginia

In Virginia's winemaking scene, Lightwell Survey emerges as a trailblazer, infusing tradition with innovation. Their small batches of dynamic reds, dense whites, and unconventional blends defy conventional categorization, aiming for precision with a touch of deviation. The journey began in partnership with Early Mountain Vineyards in Madison, VA, during the fall of 2015. Founded by Sebastian Zutant, Ben Jordan, Jay Zutant, Julian Caustrita, and John DeNapoli, Lightwell Survey is dedicated to exploring new frontiers in winemaking while honoring tradition.

The Goodbye Horses offers a bouquet of fragrant white peach, delicate honeysuckle, and hints of geranium. On the palate, layers of zesty citrus pith and subtle notes of invigorating ginger powder. Full-bodied with a lingering, lively finish. Pair this vibrant wine with grilled shrimp skewers brushed with ginger-infused olive oil for a delightful contrast of flavors, or with a creamy lemon risotto garnished with fresh herbs to highlight its citrusy undertones and elegant texture.
