Pinot Noir

WINE #1

2023 Teutonic Wine Company
Pinot Noir
Willamette Valley, Oregon

Teutonic Wines began with Barnaby's revelation while managing a Portland restaurant in 2002. Inspired by German Rieslings, he ventured into winemaking with Gisela's support, planting two thousand vines in Alsea, Oregon. Transitioning from the restaurant industry to a cellar position in Carlton, Barnaby honed his winemaking skills. By 2008, their Alsea vineyard yielded its first crop, marking the start of their winemaking journey. Today, Teutonic Wines produces four to six thousand cases annually, prioritizing fruit from dry-farmed, older vineyards. With a focus on traditional techniques and wild yeast fermentation, their wines offer delightful flavors at competitive prices. Their commitment to quality has earned them placements on esteemed restaurant wine lists nationwide.

This Pinot Noir exudes a delicate and natural charm, with clean fruit flavors and a pristine minerality. Its unadulterated profile makes it perfect for pairing with roasted crab legs, tuna, and other hearty fish. Produced using whole cluster fermentation, it offers a unique complexity and depth.

WINE #2

2019 Anthony Nappa Wines Nemesis
Pinot Noir
Long Island, New York

After studying botany at the University in Massachusetts, Amherst, Anthony Nappa headed to Christchurch, New Zealand to study Viticulture and Enology at Lincoln University. He went on to work as a winemaker in New Zealand, Southern Italy, California, Massachusetts, and New York. Making wine for Shinn Estate from 2007-2011 followed by Raphael Vineyards (where he is still the winemaker) introduced him to the Long Island wine industry. Producing organic wines in this wet region’s climate is a feat; Anthony works closely with grower Rex Farr to keep his wines certified organic and sustainable.

The 2019 Anthony Nappa Wines Nemesis is a bold and expressive red, showcasing deep, dark fruit flavors of black cherry, blackberry, and ripe plum. Layers of cocoa, espresso, and baking spice add complexity, while subtle earthy undertones and a hint of tobacco provide depth. The palate is structured yet smooth, with velvety tannins and balanced acidity leading to a long, elegant finish. A rich and compelling wine with both power and finesse.
