2022 2 Lads
Pinot Gris
Old Mission Peninsula, Michigan
Nestled on 58 acres of Michigan's stunning Old Mission Peninsula, 2 Lads Winery crafts cool-climate reds and sparkling wines with a dedication to sustainability and gentle handling. Established in 1999, the winery boasts 23 acres of flourishing vines across three distinct blocks. At 2 Lads Winery, healthy land is paramount. They believe this philosophy translates directly to the health of their grapes, resulting in exceptional wines. The winery's multi-level facility utilizes a unique gravity-flow system. This eliminates the need for pumps, ensuring the most delicate treatment of the wine throughout processing, racking, and aging. This gentle approach preserves the natural aromatics, flavors, and colors that contribute to the complex and captivating final product.
This Pinot Gris offers inviting aromas of citrus and crisp green apple, which lead to a palate of refreshing cantaloupe and a classic zesty lime finish.
WINE #2
2022 Boundary Breaks
Gewürztraminer
Finger Lakes, New York
A career shift at 50 led Bruce Murray from the world of New York City publishing to the fertile grounds of the Finger Lakes AVA. In 2007, he purchased a 120-acre plot on Seneca Lake, transforming former soybean and cornfields into a vineyard. The transition, as Bruce says, felt natural: "It offered a similar level of risk and challenge I craved." Growing up near the Finger Lakes, Bruce recognized the region's unique potential for cool-climate Vitis vinifera grapes. "The climate here hits a sweet spot," he explains, "allowing these grapes to flourish and produce exceptional wines, particularly Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Cabernet Franc."
This Gewurztraminer exhibits restrained spice notes with full-fledged floral, rose-petal character. It’s beautifully aromatic and dry.
WINE #3
2023 Paumanok Vineyards
Chenin Blanc
North Fork of Long Island, New York
Family-owned Paumanok Winery, established in 1983 on Long Island's North Fork, began as a grape grower's dream. Charles and Ursula Massoud harvested their first crop in 1985, selling grapes throughout the decade. Today the next generation leads the charge. Kareem Massoud, the winery's president and winemaker carries on the family's commitment to exceptional quality. Paumanok's philosophy is simple: only the finest grapes become exceptional wines.
"Year in and year out, this is one of the best American chenin blancs around” - Eric Asimov, The New York Times. Grapefruit, pineapple, melon, guava, apple, and white flowers burst forth from this delicious moderate-climate Chenin. Crisp and racy character.
