Earthy Reds

WINE #1

2021 Galen Glen Red German Bastards
Zweigelt, Cabernet Dorsa
Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania

Some of the very best land in the United States for winegrowing is located outside the hub of the Lehigh Valley. You will find our farm near the tiny hamlet of Andreas, on the fringes of the Lehigh Valley American Viticultural Area and north of the Blue Mountains. It rests atop a ridge at 1000 ft with a commanding view of deep Pennsylvania’s rugged terrain. Our unique microclimate features limited rainfall, howling winds, and ancient glacially deposited soils.

Owners, Galen and Sarah, established the winery in 1995 when they purchased the Troxell family double century farm from Galen’s father. Galen, a mechanical engineer and 6th generation farmer, and Sarah, a chemist, traded in corporate careers to grow grapes and launch the winery. After more than 25 vintages, the Troxells’ skill sets have undoubtedly found their niches, resulting in wine rock stars.

93pts James Suckling - "What a complex nose of wild berries and dry forest floor this very distinctive red from Pennsylvania has! Good concentration and vibrancy, the fine tannins interlocking very neatly with the fruit on the medium-bodied palate. Long silky finish with surprising power, but no hint of force. A 50/50 blend of zweigelt and cabernet dorsa. Drink or hold."

WINE #2

2021 Left Foot Charley
Blaufrankisch
Old Mission Peninsula, Michigan

Founded in 2008, Suhru Wines is a family-owned winery born from Susan and Russell's shared passion for wine. Russell’s extensive experience in the industry, shaped by his time in Australia, New Zealand, France, and the U.S., has been instrumental in guiding Susan’s growing interest and defining the winery’s distinctive style. The couple's global wine experiences, along with a love for food, have deepened their appreciation for the craft, a sentiment shared by their daughters, Shelby and Kylie, who actively support the business. Suhru Wines blends tradition with innovation, creating exceptional wines that reflect the essence of Long Island and beyond.

This wine offers vibrant notes of ripe pomegranate, complemented by a subtle hint of vanilla that lingers gracefully on the finish. Smooth, soft tannins provide a silky mouthfeel, while bright acidity adds a refreshing lift, enhancing the overall balance and elegance of the wine.

WINE #3

2020 Lieb Cellars
Teroldego, Lagrein
North Fork of Long Island, New York

Lieb Cellars crafts a portfolio of estate-grown, sustainable wines, renowned for their signature dry, clean, and fruit-forward style. Notably, Lieb owns the largest contiguous plot of Pinot Blanc in the US. Under the guidance of veteran winemaker Russell Hearn, these 35-year-old vines yield nationally recognized and award-winning wines. Their offerings extend beyond Pinot Blanc, including a sparkling rosé, a lightly oaked Chardonnay, and red blends featuring Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.

This blend offers blackberry, grilled plum, and a hint of delicate rose petal aromas. The full-bodied flavors mirror the nose, making it a perfect partner for bold dishes. Imagine it alongside cured meats, smoky bacon, a juicy roast beef, or flavorful chicken dishes.
