The Barrel Room is turning one year old on August 12th! It’s hard to believe a year has gone by so fast. We would love to celebrate with our friends, loyal customers, and all of the people who have graciously helped us over the past twelve months. Don’t have exciting travel plans this summer? Not to worry, we’ve got your back. From June 15 through August 15, the Summer Passport Program will allow you to explore the wine regions of the world without ever leaving the comfort of the Tenderloin.
Starting tonight, pick up a passport, write your name on it, and store it behind the bar all summer as you sip your way through familiar regions like France, Italy, and Australia, as well as more obscure wine-producing nations like Cyprus, Croatia, and Turkey. Each time you taste a wine, your passport will be stamped and loaded up with useful information about its country of origin. Nearly twenty countries are available to choose from. Once your trip around the world is completed, you will be rewarded with a tasty bottle of wine (at a $50 value) to sip as you recall your exhilarating journey. You can then take your passport home to revisit all of the fun facts you’ve learned, or just show it to your friends and brag about what a well-traveled wino you are.

Join us and Thrillist to help kick off our new by-the-glass menu: Wines of the Islands. This menu will include wines from the Greek islands, Sardinia, Corsica, Sicily, Tasmania, and Long Island.
$30 will get you a taste of 5 pre-released island wines plus a full pour of your favorite, along with cheeses and accompaniments from 5:30 to 8pm.
Sample 6 wines from one of the best producers in Baja California. We will be pouring Roganto’s Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Tempranillo, and Meritage blend.
Roganto Wine (or Vides y Vinos Californianos S.P.R. de R.L) is considered by experts to be one of the top wineries in Mexico. In fact, last year a special wine tasting event organized by Mexico’s top independent wine experts and specialists was held at 13,200 feet in elevation (creating superior tasting conditions) where they chose 2005 Roganto Tempranillo as the second best wine in the country.
Even though Roganto winery is technically a boutique winery in size and production, it could classify as an artisan winery due to the high quality and individual attention focused on each vintage of wine. Their state-of-the-art winery facility is a real hidden treasure of Ensenada located behind a well drilling and commercial pump business – just a few miles south of downtown on Reforma Ave. Two wine enthusiasts, Rogelio Sanchez and Antonio Luis Escalante have teamed up to create the remarkable Roganto wines. It’s almost a “top secret” and access to the tasting room is limited to serious wine lovers and those with “inquiring palates.”
